SAT Overview and Structure

The SAT* Reasoning Test is a standardized paper-and-pencil test administered by the College Board that measures your critical thinking skills. It tests your ability to analyze and solve problems in math, critical reading, and writing.

Most high school students take the SAT for the first time in the Spring of their Junior year. This gives them enough time to re-take the test again during the Fall of their Senior year if they aren't satisfied with their score.

A high score on the SAT can be important for getting into the school of your choice.

Preparation is therefore crucial for success

SAT Structure
Critical Reading Section:

Length: 70 minutes
Format: 67 multiple choice questions
Topics Tested: Sentence completion, Reading Comprehension

Math Section:

Time: 70 minutes
Format: 44 multiple choice questions and 10 grid-ins
Topics Tested: arithmetic, algebra, geometry

Writing Section:

Time: 60 minutes
Format: 49 multiple choice questions and one essay
Topics Tested: grammar, sentence improvement questions, and paragraph improvement questions, analytical reasoning
