USMLE Web Prep Combo 9 months (Step 1+2)
For almost 40 years, Kaplan Medical has been dedicated to helping medical students and doctors prepare for a series of exams known as the United States Medical Licensure Exams (USMLE). The USMLE exams are essential to gain a U.S medical residency position and ultimately become a licensed doctor in the U.S. The USMLE Step 1 is the first in the series of three USMLE exams that candidates must pass in order to qualify for medical licensure.
To assist in your preparation for this critical USMLE exam series and the U.S. residency process, Kaplan offers a wide variety of course options. You can either study the steps individually for a minimum of 3 months, or get the best value for money with a Combo course if you plan to prepare with Kaplan for more than one step. The USMLE Preparation courses include DVD-based lectures, course books, simulated exams and practice questions.
The Web Prep Combo 9 months course offers you the flexibility of accessing the Step 1 lectures videos from a computer at home or work, and provides 30 visits to access the Center for the Step 2 video course.
Kaplan’s USMLE Web Prep Combo 9 months includes everything you need to be successful on the Step 1 and Step 2 exams. You will have a unique username and password to access 80 hours of lectures online + QBank for Step 1 (can be accessed from any computer, anywhere), and then 30 visits in the Center to watch video courses for Step 2.

You can start the USMLE Web Prep Combo (Step 1+2) course on any day. One you start, you can access the Kaplan Center at your convenience.
Your course will begin with a meeting with the Medical Programs Manager, a review of the course features and a strategic analysis of the USMLE exam.
Once you have enrolled, you will receive your Step 1+2 materials:
Step 1 :
- Lecture notes + Qbook, with 850 practice USMLE questions
- 80 hours of audio streamed-lectures
- Full access to the Qbank
- An 8 hour Step 1 USMLE Simulated Exam
Step 2 :
- Lecture notes + Qbook
- 30 visits in the center to watch video courses level 2
- One simulated exam
USMLE Step 1:
Tests basic science principles, specifically in anatomy, behavioral science, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, and physiology. Interdisciplinary areas such as genetics, immunology, and nutrition are also tested. Step 1 emphasizes mechanisms of health, disease and modes of therapy.
USMLE Step 1:
- 350 questions
- 8 hours of testing (including an hour of break time)
- Questions are divided into 7 blocks of 50 questions, which are completely random
- Most question items assess basic medical science concepts in the form of clinical vignettes
USMLE Step 1 minimum passing score: 185/75
International medical graduates must register for Steps 1 and 2 CK through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) on www.ecfmg.org. Registering and scheduling your exam date is a multi-step process:
- Secure the application materials
The ECFMG will require official copies of various documents including your medical diploma and transcripts - Complete the application and submit with your application fee and a recent photo
During the application process you will be asked to choose a 3-month "eligibility period" during which you want to take the exams. - Receive your Scheduling Permit
Once your application is processed, you will receive a Scheduling Permit. This permit will tell you the start and end dates of your 3-month eligibility period, instructions on scheduling your exam, as well as your Scheduling Number and your Candidate Identification Number. - Schedule your test date directly with the Prometric center
Your Scheduling Permit will have instructions on contacting the Prometric center to select your test date (must be within eligibility period).
