Our GRE Classroom Anywhere course provide complete Math and Verbal preparation over 9 class sessions in an interactive online classroom where you can communicate easily with your teacher and classmates. Two classes per week take place on evenings or weekends for maximum convenience.

As well as your online lessons, you will also have access to extensive self-study resources for 3 months. A personalized online syllabus contains your homework assignments, workshops, videos of your classes, 6 full-length GRE practice tests, and much more. You will also receive a set of printed books and materials that we will ship directly to you.

How does a Classroom Anywhere Course work?

Kaplan's Classroom Anywhere courses are designed for the student who needs flexible schedule options and who cannot participate in a course in one of our centers. That is why our virtual e-learning center integrates dynamic lesson material, two-way audio, chat, polls, and online whiteboard technology. This flexible environment allows for highly dynamic teaching and enjoyable learning.

You will see your lesson material on the screen, as well as a webcam video of your instructor. You will be able to ask questions just like being in a real classroom.

Course structure

GRE Online Diagnostic

All GRE students should take their diagnostic (MST1) in the GRE Online Center before the first session of their course. To qualify for Kaplan's Higher Score Guarantee, the diagnostic must be completed before the first taught session.

Math and Verbal Lessons

The GRE test

The NEW Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Revised General Test is designed to provide US graduate schools with a common measure for comparing their applicants’ qualifications. The exam does not test specific subject knowledge and instead measures quantitative, verbal and analytical writing skills. You will be required to take the GRE if you wish to go on to graduate (post-graduate) study in the US.

GRE Test Format

Verbal Section (Two Sections)

Time/section: 30 minutes
Format: approx. 20 questions
Topics Tested: Reading, Analytical Reasoning, Vocabulary
Question Types: Text Completion, Sentence Equivalence, Reading Comprehension (with increased focus on short passages)

Quantitative Section (Two Sections)

Time/section: 35 minutes
Format: approx. 20 questions
Topics Tested: Basic Math, Mathematical Concepts, Quantitative Reasoning
Question Types: Problem Solving, Quantitative Comparisons, Data interpretation

Writing Assessment

Time: 60 minutes
Format: Two 30 minute essays
Topics Tested: Analysis of an Argument, Analysis of an Issue

GRE Test Scores

Each of the three sections on the GRE is scored separately. You will be given a "scaled score" within a range of 130-170 for both the quantitative and verbal sections in one point increments. You will also receive a score on a scale of 0 to 6 for the writing section.

A percentile rank will be given in addition to scaled scores. Your performance will be calculated relative to those of a large sample population of other GRE takers, giving you a percentile rank. This means that if you scored higher than 60% of GRE test takers you scored in the 60th percentile.

Register for the official test of GRE

As the GRE is a computerized test it is available throughout the year. You can register at www.gre.org. Currently to take the exam outside the US the cost is $170. ETS takes most major credit cards.
