GMAT Scores

GMAT scores are valid for 5 years. You will receive four scores:

  • An overall score, ranging from 200 to 800
  • A math score, ranging from 0 to 60
  • A verbal score, ranging from 0 to 60
  • A score for the Analytical Writing Assessment, ranging from 0 to 6

You’ll also receive percentile ranks for theoverall, quantitative, and verbal scores.

The Essay

Each essay is given a grade on a 0-6 scale by two different graders—a human and a computer called the "e-rater". These grades take into account all aspects of content, writing style, and English grammar.

What GMAT Score will you need?

The score you need to succeed on the GMAT differs between MBA programs. The minimum scores required are available on the school websites. Some average GMAT scores are as follows:

Wharton: 713
Stanford: 713
Harvard: 708
Columbia: 709
INSEAD: 703
IMD: 680
LBS: 680
HEC Paris: 650
